You know, Juno’s life wasn’t really all that interesting. It was your typical delinquent backstory: an alcohol dad, neglectful mom, a bad neighborhood and an even worse attitude. The only salvation the young girl had was her older brother who was a legendary professional skateboarder in the underground scene. From a very young age, he was the only role model she ever looked up to.
So, it was no surprise that when he met his untimely death in a skateboarding accident, her whole world came crashing down. For months she would wallow in her own misery, failing every class in school and refusing to show up half the time in the first place. She felt like her life was over. The only thing she had was herself… and her bubby’s skateboard. Their parents had taken everything else and pawned it, but she actually managed to swipe it and keep it for herself.
From the moment her tiny feet touched the board, she was already used to it. Watching her brother so closely all of these years, she knew all of the little micro-techniques in order to keep yourself steady, and over the next few years, she spent the vast majority of her time devoting herself to learning to be as good as him. She wanted to prove to him that she wouldn’t let his legacy be forgotten, and she wouldn’t die in such a sh*tty way.
