Style of Roleplay: Post-Apocalyptic, Possible Romance/Dark Romance, Exploratory, New World

The world was over...the end of modern-day society occurred after the planet had been ravaged by a plague that was simply unmanageable and many, many people died. When everything started to go wrong the population of the world ranged around 8 billion people but today, no one really could know since global communication had broken down but at best guess evaluated the remaining populous was under 2 billion...

Over the 10 years since ‘The End’ nature had started reclaiming the planet from its decimated occupants, streets, cities, have vanished into the regrowth of vegetation...the remaining population branched off from the large cities into more manageable communities in small villages, towns.

With the loss of so many people, even normal services suffered...the gas stopped flowing, the electricity went out, even the water stopped flowing reverting the population back to a much more primitive time and with that the strong began preying even further on the weak than before. Resources would be stolen from those who couldn’t protect themselves, even women became a commodity as people scrambled to continue their way of life and keep their communities populated.

Your character would be a single girl, a rare find indeed, with a hint of an independent streak...she insisted on going with teams on scavenging missions to collect rare resources or even just supplies needed to keep different machines operating in their community.

On one such expedition, she would duck into the remains of an old convivence store to have her eyes fall on a rare item...a case of old-world water bottles...completely clean water... Delving deeper into the store she wouldn’t even notice the multitude of traps that had been setup in the building...she also had no idea...that she was being watched...

She may not even be aware there were people out there in the world still in the possession of technology and equipment that is far advanced from the days before the end...and he was one of those people and she would soon be introduced to this new normal.

Style of Roleplay: Cyberpunk, Possible Romance/Dark Romance

The setting for this scene is the future, your character is a young woman from a medium to high income family...while she hasn’t really given into the whole implant and additions to herself like most of her friends, she has undergone a procedure to accept an implant to help her remember things with more clarity and detail to help her through her studies... She has lived with the implant now for over a year and the results were amazing and helped her with her studies considerably.

One night while out clubbing with some of her friends, she caught the glimpse of a monitor in the bar with a weird pattern on it, what she has not realized at the time is the screen and the weird pattern was actually a Cyberware virus which, when she looked at it, infected the implant in her mind...

The next morning when she awoke, she would start hearing a voice in her mind, someone had gained access to her implant and had control over it...with the way it was interfaced into her body it also gave the hacker the ability to interface with her body...it was capable of allowing him to take control over her body, make her say things or even make her go places using the interface leaving her a prisoner in her own body.

While he allowed her to continue functioning normally, he made it impossible for her to tell anyone about her situation...

The hacker decided to meet with her in person and she was guided to another club where she’d finally get the opportunity to meet the person who was in full control of her...

You were a struggling student, isn't everyone, before the pandemic...however now you've lost your job and all your funding, no family so to speak of to try and rely on for emergency funding or a place to live, your friends have all gotten fed up with your spending so much time on their couch so you set out into the world on your own trying to find some way to make ends meat.

Sadly, in this new age jobs are hard to come by and affordable housing is even harder which has left you virtually homeless, finding those safe spots possible to sleep when you can under bridges and such...

Today while it's been an extremely hot day you've been trying to stay out of the sun under a bridge when a guy approaches you, he's well dressed and doesn't look threatening... He smiles and offers you water and to take you for a meal, you don't feel he's a threat to you and he seems to be genuinely interested in your well being...

After a lot of coaxing he manages to get you to follow him to his car, a beautiful fairly new Mercedes...he even opens the door for you to get in telling you that he'll take you for a nice meal and give you some time to relax in the cool...

The setting is the future, not too far but not too close... Humanity has moved out into the universe and continued to expand and grow through exploration as Earth continues to whither and die under the opressive abuse Humanity has delt upon it.

A group of people were entered into a lottery for the opertunity to leave the Earth and transition to a new world where the air is clean, the water is pure, and there is hope once again... You were selected, however, the problem is that the rest of your family was not... After a lot of discussion they finally encourage and force you to get on that ship with the hope they might one day meet up with you there...

As you're sealed away in your stasis pod the last thing you remember seeing was Earth starting to disappear in the distance...the travel time for you to reach the new world is about 5 to 10 years...

With a giant shake, you are awakened, your stasis pod has cracked open and you slowly start to awaken. You see the compartment in the transport ship is dark except for some slowly pulsing Red Lights, the air is stale and something doesn't 'feel' right.

As you look around the compartment you see that all the other stasis pods have either shut down or been damaged, you are the only person left alive on the ship. As you move forward and leave the compartment you see it, the transport has apparently docked with some form of Space Station or outpost...

You can see lights on the wall, there is obviously someone else on the ship...

They say that a world is the product of the people who live in it and that a single event by a single person can change the direction for all time and all those who live in it… Under the theory of the metaverse, every event that could happen has happened at some point in some reality across the metaverse giving birth to an infinite number of possible realities…

Terra, reality as it could have been.

Like ripples on a pond, at first the changes to the reality of Terra may have seemed small, insignificant, however these ripples gave birth to even greater, larger ripples which continued to expand out from the originating event until the changes in the world had reached a level that a new world was genuinely born.

To track back differences between Terra and the one you may know one must go back, way back to a defining event in history where the divergence began. One could overlook the simple differences before this, the planet was never named “Earth” and was always referred to as the scientific and celestial name of Terra. While being the third planet in the Sol system, Sol itself in this reality was a younger, O-Type Star, a bright blue ball burning in the sky which lead to minor differences in the development of the planet itself, but this was not the defining difference which forced the wide divergence between worlds, separating them and defining them for all time.

The History of Terra was more aggressive, more warlike than it’s ‘Earth’ counterpart. The world was quickly separated into major imperial expansion, dominated by the great empires of the British, Roman, Slav and Japanese the world developed out with these cultures as definitive.

The expansionist policies of these Empires lead to many different wars, but also many of the major conflicts that plagued the other worlds of the metaverse also occurred here, however some of the players may have been slightly different…

With most territory of the world spoken for, many empires coveted different territories of their ‘neighbors’ which would breed discontent and hostility until in 1914, the First Great War was born in the shots of rifles fired from the Roman Empire.

By this point in history, the Unification of North American States had become a new major player in world events, having managed to be the first power ever to split itself off from the British Empire...however by this point in history the reconislation between the UNAS and the British Empire had already begun to occur, trade channels and even new mutual defense treaties had come into being.

With the first shots from the guns of the Roman Empire, the world was plunged into its first genuine full world war. While this conflict lasted a mere 4 years the world saw a death toll of over 200,000,000 people rise from the ashes, wiping out the entire populations of several smaller european countries and an overall victory over the Roman Empire by the combined forces of the UNAS and British Empire.

In the accords of 1918, it was stated that the complete disbandment of the Roman Empire would take place. This, while at the time seemed like an ideal solution to break the extensive control of the Romans over Europe would give birth to an unforeseen effect.

With the power vacuum in Europe, politicians, Military Officers, Soldiers fleeing the Empire found purchase to many of the same ideals and ideas in the small Germanic Empire...and quietly the thoughts and ideas that had given rise to the Romans over the centuries would influence the decisions of the Germans, pushing them into a direction that would forever change the world.

Soldiers coming home from the war felt extremely discontented and disenfranchised by the forced breakup of such a great Empire that many felt the need to attempt to reclaim lost glory, playing to the fears of the people a new empire was shaping up, a National Socalist German Workers Party began to spread its influence throughout the old Roman Territories...quietly, slowly in a way that was not immediately seen as a threat by the British or Americans…

This would change in 1930...when a public declaration of the new German Reich claimed all the territories of the former Roman Empire, rolling troops and advanced weaponry that they had been building for decades forth into Europe, conquering those who would not willingly join this new superpower.

It would take several years for the British Empire to even draw itself out of it’s complacency that such a new power would never be able to achieve its lofty goals… By the end of 1939, it had become obvious to those in power in the British Empire that there was no way that this new empire could be allowed to continue as stories of atrocities being conducted within its borders that included everything from chemical weapons attacks to the outright extermination of groups that they saw as inferior or undesirable. It was at this point that the leader of the Reich, a former soldier of the Roman Empire named Adolf Hitler, was being taken seriously and his fiery speeches were more than just fodder for the media of the world.

In 9 years between the declaration and the British deciding to intervene, this German Nazi Reich had claimed nearly the entirety of Europe and managed to snake itself through many minor colonies in the Middle East as well as down into Africa, a foothold that would not be easy to remove.

Reaching out to their Allies in the UNAS, the British Empire was met with a culture which had shifted from territorial expansion to more of a protectionist attitude. The President and Congress of the Americas rejected the call to arms to intervene in what they saw was a war far from their own borders, something far too similar to the Great War which had cost many American lives. Instead, they offered significant sabre rattling, strong words and threats of intervention against the Reich as well as increased military build up in their own colonies and bases around the world, discouraging any thoughts of the Germans to invade or otherwise interfere with their assets that kept the nation running.

No one may ever know what the final event that triggered the Nazi response, but when they did decide to respond they did so in a way no one could ever expect. With the blessing of the leader of the Reich, German Scientists released their ultimate solution that would, in their minds ensure German dominance and put an end to the threat of British and American intervention to their Imperial Expansion. An engineered bioweapon, a nano-virus which was coded to attack specific groups, races of people and remove them from the equation.

This virus called “Die große Vollendung” or simply as 'Doom' by the majority of the world, worked all too well.

Without any form of warning, the virus was spread by Reich agents through the water tables of the world and then vaporized into the air, the virus quickly made its way around the world. No one, even the German scientists who created it, could have ever even possibly grasped the effectiveness of the viral matrix.

As the virus spread, it destroyed entire cultures and people that didn't match the Reich’s ideals of perfection with lethal efficiency. Within a week of release, the Middle East, Africa, South and Central America all were erased with their populations falling ill and dying within days of infection.

The medias’ of the world would cover the horrific scenes in these countries, bodies of the dead not just everywhere in the infected countries but within hours of death the corpses would liquefy preventing any real investigation and also introducing the contagion to the soil, the into previously non-affected water-tables causing the spread to expand even further further.

These horrors caused all Governments, including the Germans, to pause...drawing their forces back to closer to their respective countries where they could set their forces on the mission of protecting and mitigating the damages being done by the virus.

While many thought it was inevitable, but still unthinkable to many...the virus mutated.

The mutation didn't take into consideration the programming originally done by the German Scientists, that segment of it’s code becoming dormant as the newer more aggressive natures of the virus activated. No one ever knew why it happened, but the virus began targeting the genetic makeup of all females on Terra.

Within weeks of the mutation, millions of women died across the entire world and even more were left either unable to bare children. The Human Race was truly standing at the twilight of its existence, extension seemed a genuine realistic possibility and many across the world simply hid, trying to keep themselves alive…..

Scientists around the world put aside their differences, Germans worked with British, American, and Japanese scientists as they worked from the virus’s original DNA to develop an antibody, a resistance, a cure, or anything that could save the human race.

It was a junior American Scientist who cracked the nucleic shutdown code for the virus, ironically mere hours before she herself was overcome and killed by the very thing she had been attempting to cure. Building off her research, the science council was able to swiftly compose and develop a working antivirus agent that would shut down and eventually kill the remaining viral cells in human hosts as well as across the world.

Mass inoculations started taking place across the world, but as in most things there was not full equality from every government as they prioritised the rich, the powerful, and, of course, the females that they had left. It was quickly realized that without them, there was no hope of saving the human race.

It was again here where the world of Terra swerved yet another hard right away from the path of so many other worlds, but could one even really question that it’d happen when faced with such a worldwide disaster which brought the human race to its collective knees?

It was late in the year 1945 when a decimated UNAS and the British Empire revealed a plan to dissolve as separate entities, melding their power together to become a single, definitive force in the world that would encompass the entirety of the former Unification of North American States and its territories of Canada, Greenland, Alaska, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Columbia, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia. The British Empire brought to the table it’s core countries of England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, plus it’s colonies and territories of Egypt, Iraq, Iran, India, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand.

It was decided that this new combined superpower would be known as The United Anglo-American Commonwealth or simply the Commonwealth in most non-formal communications.

On paper, this new superpower appeared to be a formidable force to challenge the expansive territories of the German Nazi Reich which dominanted the entirty of mainland Europe and down into the African continent, or the Empire of Japan who’s rising sun encompassed the entirety of Asia and most of the Eastern sections of Russia.

Now when evaluated realistically, the majority of all of these Empires were simply shells of their former selves, while they boasted huge swatches of land and an impressive number of countries under their umbrellas, the virus had reduced the populations of many of these countries to hundreds, thousands, where millions once resided leaving one or two major cities as territorial capitals from which administration took place and the rest of the countries were left to return to nature in the hopes that one day populations would return to a level that would find need to reclaim those areas again.

A widespread report of this came from the evaluation of the African continent where the virus had been specially focused by the Reich. From a rough estimate of the 200 million people that had lived there in 1940, only a small portion of those in South Africa seemed to survive bringing an estimated total of 25,000 people remaining.

1945 brought forth the greatest number of changes in recorded Human history as the world powers scrambled to find their footing in this new, far more open and empty world. The Commonwealth announced a new calendar system and announced that starting at the new year things would roll over to become Commonwealth Year 1, or CY01 denoting the start of a new era. Following suit, the Reich similarly began their own calendar with Jahr Null or “Year Zero.”

Governments went into overdrive, creating, amending, and removing laws from their books to better meet this new world so that they could face this new age ready, feet on the ground and running and resulted in two of the most landmark rulings that would come into play for many years to come.

First, the 1945 Armistice between the German Reich and the Commonwealth was formally signed, and while it was generally agreed between the two powers that there would be no formal diplomatic relations between the two powers, it was seen that neither could afford to continue the bloodshed with the decimation already done to their populations by the virus. The guns fell silent however the animosity between the two powers would continue to grow and seeth.

Second, the new Commonwealth passed a piece of legislation that would set it’s path for all time to come. The 'Female Protection Act of 1945' stated that any woman within the boundaries of the Commonwealth and any of its territories was to be constricted and confined within the Commonwealth to prevent any form of attrition or loss of population.

The freedom of movement for women was repealed and new 'restraint' laws were enacted mandating that anytime that a female wished to leave her homan she had to be kept at minimum with her hands bound behind her back and supervised by her Husband or other approved male who would be held responsible for her safety and security, as well as making sure that she was returned home in the same state and condition she left.

Women were banned from holding any form of employment outside of the home, relegated to the single and sole responsibility of being mothers or caregivers to be a paramount and sole requirement to return population growth to a positive. Additionally, women were kept restrained at all times, even in the home and the laws permitted a Husband or Father full rights to keep a female under his control not only with her hands restrained behind her but also hobbled by means of cuffs or rope and even gagged if she dared to speak against the restraint law.

While the initial outcry of the remaining female population was intense, it was quickly and efficiently silenced through the new laws and it didn’t take long before the ‘status quo’ seemed to return to public view. Men coming home from war took up new jobs, new focuses while women were kept out of the public eye, tucked ‘safely’ away at home where many had felt they should be already.

The Commonwealth focused its populations into major population centers to attempt to keep the feel of normality in the nation, smaller towns and villages were all but abandoned as people moved into accommodations in the cities, scientific research continued at an accelerated pace in the technology and biotechnology/medical research areas as the reduced population needed to find new and creative ways to continue to feed, cloth, and provide the base necessities of life with a mere fraction of the people it once had.

With the resources of the entire Commonwealth put behind it, the growth in these areas became almost staggering through the early years of the Commonwealth with medical treatments evolving to cure virtually every known disease and genetic engineering allowed an eradication of genetic and mental defects from the population. Technological research brought forth new and stronger building materials, renewable power systems, advances in artificial intelligence and robotics facilitating the creation of automated farms in the abandoned areas of the nation removing hunger and malnutrition from the Commonwealth and allowing its population to focus its growth on more important areas.

What had sprung from the ashes of a destroyed world was a virtual utopian society where everyone that wanted a job could find one, where no one ever went hungry, where children were able to learn and advance themselves to levels none had ever even fathomed before...as long as you were born of the ‘correct’ gender that is.

Through the years following the passage of the ‘FPA of 45’ the Commonwealth slowly saw its population growth tipped back into the positive nature, babies were being born and the scales were being tipped away from the night back into a world of hope. As a result, certain rules began to come back under review, parts of the FPA would be called into question however in Patriarchal society, it was felt that the limits and rules of the original FPA encouraged a stronger moral fabric for the Commonwealth.

However, as the years progressed, amendments to the FPA were passed, women were finally again allowed to go out, socialize and have lives outside of their homes without mandatory male supervision. The imposed silence through the use of gags on women would be broken allowing them once again to have a voice in the world, though by this point it was understood that what was being given could once again be taken away leading to an overall general acceptance of the new laws without protest by the female population. Something was better than nothing in these cases and thus the world could continue it’s evolution.

Though contested several times, the restraint laws were retained as well as the limitations of movement outside of the Commonwealth for women, however few even noticed this as the desolation of the rest of the world provided very little incentive to leave the protection of the borders.

As has been said, life continued to find new ways to grow, each year giving birth to a multitude of new technology that would see the advances in Artificial Intelligence to give birth to a basic artificial managed lifeform, an android, which would evolve to become a standard staple in the homes of almost everyone in the Commonwealth assisting in many home chores which would be considered tedious or difficult for females restricted by the restraints of the FPA.

Architecture design seemed to freeze in many ways, with the majority of buildings (including new construction) being raised in the style of Early American Colonial, English Victorian, or a mix of both on the exterior and elegant, grand interiors sporting the finest materials common in almost all builds while the advancement in materials prompted many new constructions in an almost space-age evolution of design and function leading to cities that evolved into almost the appearance of science fiction stories of old.

By CY20, or 1966 in the old calendar, the Commonwealth had exceeded the level of technology and advancement that many other worlds would not see well past the 21st century. Medical technology virtually eliminated all disease from its population and even found ways of slowing the aging process for those who could afford it, however the largest and most controversial of the medical advancements would be the cybernetic bio-implant business.

A Company, Grey Innovations, founded by a Mr. Thaddeus Grey found a way to implement the advances in quantum computing into implants which could be embedded into the brains of subjects providing them with differing effects based on the programming of the implants.

This technology was quickly identified as something that could be repurposed and used in many different ways by the Commonwealth Government, Grey Innovations implants became the go-to tool for dealing with female resisters, those who attempted to reject the restraint laws and tighter control and confinement over the female gender. Once a resistor was identified by the government, she could be implanted and from that point controlled without any need to re educate or modify her behavior.

While the girl herself would still be active in her mind, the implant provided a way to lock away her own thoughts and control her much like an android or robot when needed, breaking the spirit of the resistance. Government programming often left a certain level of freedom to the implantee so long as she complied willingly with her programming with the implant taking over control of her at the first signs of resistance.

The use of these technologies for these methods of course were not widely published, kept from the media and public by national security directives, it afforded both corporate growth and government compliance without the public uproar that might come from widespread knowledge of the program.

As the years passed, society continued to evolve, new generations born into this new world were brought up in the age of female confinement and few ever even thought to question it. Males were brought up to understand it was their responsibility to tend to and care for females, reigniting the age of chivalry and gallantry with them being taught what nearly happened when females came to the brink of being wiped out.

The world adapted to accommodate the differences of the sexes, new markets opened up providing shops where females could purchase customized restraints to wear, everything from silver or gold handcuffs to elaborate arm-binders that could be worn on formal occasions without breaking the laws governing their restraint. Even little things such as public transit adapted, women being given priority seating while the men stand (given they can hold onto handrails).

Females were raised understanding that their confinement and restraint was for their own good and the good of their world, restraining ceremonies became one of the hottest events of the year. Replacing birthdays for girls, at the beginning of puberty they would receive their first set of restraints for public wear though most girls spent years before that learning and training to move and function in restraints so that they could be ready and show how graceful they were by their ceremonies.

As the commonwealth entered the 21st century, a slight revision to the Restraint Law was made allowing for the removal of a female's restraints while in her own home or apartment. Gone now were the days where females were almost prisoners even in their own homes and they were able to experience a level of freedom that many never had previously. While this met with some argument from traditionalists, the change was widely accepted though provisions were clearly put into place that the law only applied to the actual home of the female and not when she was visiting someone else, in those situations her restraints were required to remain.

Additionally the laws banning females in the workforce was additionally repealed allowing a new element of the population to slip into the workplace and contribute to the national growth, however as with many things this was not without its obstacles. With these new found freedoms, the female population began stretching its legs and it was generally seen that the ethical and moral behaviors that had been encouraged through confinement in the home were now under attack with females free to seek out their own intimate needs and desires more freely.

Seen as a threat to society, the restraint laws were once again amended, this time adding a further level of restriction to the recently empowered female population. The amendment passed in CY59 (2005) dictated that all females be kept confined within government approved chastity devices. Access to open these devices were limited to husbands, doctors, or through specific individuals with the pull to be granted rights to remove the devices for the intent of procreation.

Despite disapproval from the female population, it was figured that by the end of DY60, 95% of all females were secured in their devices ending the thoughts of females being promiscuous or pleasuring themselves without approval satisfying the moral purists among the Commonwealth Elite.

The largest discovery of the modern era was made in January of CY66 (2012) when, by accident, scientists discovered an active portal gateway that allowed people from Terra and Earth to transit between the two realities seamlessly.

The Commonwealth / Earth Portal Network was opened formally later that year upon agreements between the United States of America and the Commonwealth. This discovery not only startled many on both sides but also brought into being an entire new slew of legislation before the Commonwealth Parliament on how to handle these visitors from 'another world.'

It was decided that the Portal would be handled like any other border in the world and those transitioning would be subject to the laws on the side they transitioned to. Guides to the laws of the other side were available prior to making the transit either direction. Those coming to Terra would be subject to Commonwealth Law and the Restraint Laws while those going to Earth would abide by their rules.

At the border on the Terra side, identities would be checked, verified and for female travelers, they would be restrained by an agent of the border force before being allowed to leave the Portal Plaza. Chastity restraints are not checked at the border due to the invasiveness, however they are still the rule of law and it is expected that visiting females are kept in full proper restraint during their visit.

Hotels catering to 'Earth Visitors' began popping up, receiving their licenses to permit their Earth Based Guests access to special unlocking stations in their rooms which allow the restraints of the female to be removed and held, for safety and security when a female's restraints are removed the door is kept locked until she is confirmed back in them and secure to prevent accidental going out into public in violation of the law.

With the dawn of CY73 (2019), the Commonwealth has become a technological mecca sporting holographic technology, artificial intelligence, advanced almost lifelike androids, and much more in addition to becoming a growing tourist haven for those curious about what life could have been like.

CY73 saw the Commonwealth’s first genuine influx of immigration from the Earth side which created the single greatest year of growth in population in nearly 70 years. Though many on the Earth side called the choices in immigration permit issuance slightly suspect as the majority of permits were given to single females and even at times to girls who under the Earth side laws wouldn't have been eligible without their parents but were considered and permitted under the Terran laws regarding allowed ages.

With the influx of new females to the Commonwealth, there has been a doubling down by the Government on the Female Protection Act and it's restriction requirements to ensure that all new arrivals understand and are in compliance with the law having come from a realm without it.

Many female rights advocates have argued that the Government is using immigration to further isolate females in the Commonwealth from their rights, however, public consensus is that these limits were needed originally and have become the fabric of society and that there is no need to relax or remove them now.

In reality, a new law designed to replace the Female Protection Act was already being discussed, designed, and considered at the highest levels of the government which would establish a much more strict baseline regarding what is required for females, what positions they are permitted to hold, and even expanding on the general loose rights statements of the FPA in favor of a much more restrictive and traditional set...this will no doubt continue to be discussed and debated into this new year.

There was severe concern however as the alternate realm on the other side of the portals, the gateways between the alternate realities of the metaverse. "Earth" (The Prime Reality) had started to show signs of a new super virus coming out of one of their nation states causing panic and concern among many there. This new virus manifested itself as a flu like bug but seemed to have a significantly higher mortality rate than that of a normal flu and started spreading beyond the borders of the original nation state causing an infectious world wide pandemic.

On Terra, the 75 years of medical experience, knowledge, and technology gained from combating The Doom virus afforded extreme abilities to combat and prevent this Earth based virus from crossing the gateways into its population, and many Terran scientists began testing the virus against Terran technology and medicine finding that over 99% of the Terran Population would have a natural immunity, however steps had to be taken to protect Terra against this type of outbreak crossing worlds.
