This was my father's war. And I am here to finish

Silence. Only the sound of her own heartbeat echoed in Alumina's ears. She breathed heavily, her eyes closed as she collected her thoughts and calmed her mind. The time had come. Her eyes opened and she addressed the men before her with a determined gaze, taking a breath before walking forward amongst the ranks. They saluted, although some were slower than others to show their respect more out of duty than true regard. She was young, and a woman, she had no business on the battle ground, but instead of selecting a leader amongst the overly ambitious and some blood-thirsty knights, she chose to do it herself.

The air filled with the sounds of clinking metal armour and the restless snorts of horses. The minute of silence was over, the fallen remembered and prayed for. Now it was their turn.

"We attack at dawn. The sun's crown has begun to breach the horizon. It is time."

"Yes, my Lady."

Alumina mounted her horse and readied her sword, cantering to the front lines of the men as they scurried into formation. On the horizon, dark clouds were swirling and stabbing the ground with lightning bolts of red. The marks of demons. An impossible foe, but one she was determined would plague her lands no more. The rumbling of the storm grew closer and the young woman raised her hand to the cheer of hundreds. On they charged, and on many of them met their end.

The fight had felt like hours, her horse lay dead somewhere in the chaos, but she held her sword without fear and weaved between the enemy with scales, horns and talons. Her strength was wading, but she locked eyes with the fiery sockets of a Deamon, bigger than the others, and radiating with black aura.

"Come little girl..." it hissed. "Surrender and I may be merciful."
"Never!" She shouted. "This is my father's war, and I am here to finish it. I hereby cast you to the pits of Hell from whence you were summoned by the power of man's ignorance and greed!"

Her sword met the Deamon's staff with a clang that echoed like a bell, causing a crack to form at their feet. But she held firm. Blue light began to grow in time with her racing heart, spreading tendrils of energy through her veins and making her eyes glow.

"I am more than could ever be imagined. Daughter of a goddess, born with the magic to end you. Here. Now. Forever!"

And... all went black.
