They continue their investigation, following the tracks WooPil left outside the town. Since it all happens at a short time, it's not even difficult, there are still footprints in the snow.
The footprints lead to the closest wood, where a second set of footprints add to the mix. And then a few more, too, but different ones. «Undead.»
Continuing to follow the trail, that now is a confused mess but that all leads to the same direction, they reach something pretty peculiar: a portal, but somewhat "smeared" through trees and other plants, like stuck in the vegetation and looking more like a barrier than a traditional portal.
They decide to return home instead of suicidally jump into an unknown portal in two. As they are back to the Palace, they also come across the rescue team who brought Chan and the others back.
They hastily discuss the situation and, unsurprisingly, Chan insists that he must go through that portal. There is no way they could stop him from going, all they could do is join him, so that he won't risk to end up alone in a terribly dangerous situation.
Xingqiu takes them back to the location of the portal through teleportation and even before they could think of a plan, Chan runs through.

He starts to walk towards the city. «Go to play treasure hunt with the kids too, if you like. Hudie and a kid will need at least one adult to make sure they don't get themselves killed.» Chan is an hypocrite.
Klee. «No! Of course no, never!»
She nods. «Like they inherit hairstyles from their parents they also inherit eye patches!»
After she fills a bag with fish, she looks at Hudie and nods. «I will take you to him right away!» She starts to run, but not towards the city. She stops by a camp not too far and points at Bennett, sleeping under a tent. «Blonde boy with freckles!»
And he is getting increasingly annoyed. «Seriously… what? I have come here for only one purpose and that isn't to play with fucking kids!»
Klee. «What's a fucking shit that changes colour? I want one!» Knights probably thought she couldn't get any worse.
«Someone who looks like him, in bad shape and dressed in blue?» She ponders for a while. «Klee knows who you mean! Come!» She starts to run towards Mondstadt again, even catching up and running past Chan and Zhao.
Once inside, she heads to a house and knocks. A boy with blonde hair and blue clothes comes to open. «Mika, this big brother is looking for you!»
He looks at Hudie, bitter as hell, speeding up though.
Klee. «Your hair is shit? Isn't shit… poop?»
The moment with Mika couldn't be any more awkward. He is Huffman's little brother and seems to be on the way to be a playable 4 star soon.
«Not him, even? Then… it couldn't be Albedo? He is blonde too.»
He decides to approach Katherine, since she has that stand near the gate and on the main street. He asks her if she happened to see something out of the ordinary happen and she confirms that three weary travelers entered the city shortly before and the bard flew a wounded boy in the direction of the cathedral.
«And where is the cathedral?»
«On the city's highest ground, up all the stairs, in front of the statue of Lord Barbatos.»
He starts to run without even thanking.
Klee. «You have poop in your hair? To make it brown?»
She shakes her head. «I never heard that name, but I know many blonde boys around here!»
He keeps running even if he is pretty much exhausted, but his dickheadness is stronger than his flesh. The stairs feel infinite but eventually he reaches the very top and sees the statute in front of the cathedral.
He runs to the cathedral.
Klee. «It would stink a lot if you had poop in your hair and it would look brown.»
She nods. «I will tell you big bro!» She looks around and blinks. «Who?»
