Story Opener: While in Toussaint, Geralt of Rivia is hunting a elusive monster. He's lured into a mysterious portal finding himself in an unfamiliar realm. Upon his arrival, he's confronted by Raiden, the God of Thunder and protector of Earthrealm. Raiden explains that a powerful sorcerer, Shang Tsung, has been harvesting the souls of defeated warriors to gain unimaginable power. The sorcerer's actions threaten to destabilize the balance between realms and plunge all existence into chaos. Raiden, desperate for assistance, requests Geralt's help in winning Mortal Kombat – a tournament that will decide the fate of all realms.
